No. Never use this telescope to look at the Sun. This telescope is not designed for solar observing, and no solar filter is provided or intended for use with it.
Do not use the telescope for daytime observing, as there is a risk of accidentally pointing it at or near the Sun. Looking at the Sun through a telescope can cause immediate and permanent eye damage or blindness.
It is a telescope-building kit, not an assembled telescope. The campaign offers two options:
Only if you choose the 3D Printing Kit. The Assembly Kit already includes all the 3D-printed parts, so no 3D printer is required.
If you choose to print the parts, use a 3D printer with a build area of at least 205 × 218mm.
It should be capable of producing accurate, straight parts. Automatic bed leveling is recommended.
The printer must also be able to reliably complete an uninterrupted print of at least eight hours.
Yes! You’ll need to source all the required parts yourself, but it is definitely possible. The files and documentation are there to help you build your own.

The telescope is designed to be straightforward to assemble. If you’re comfortable following step-by-step instructions and using basic hand tools, you should have no trouble building it. The online assembly guide walks you through each subassembly with clear photos, and a YouTube video playlist is also available to guide you through the build.
Assembly should take around 2–3 hours, depending on your experience and pace.
You’ll need scissors, a ruler, and a clean, soft work surface. A 3mm hex key is included in the kit.
At this focal length, a spherical primary delivers very sharp views. That has been tested extensively. It also keeps the telescope affordable to build, without giving up a great observing experience.
